Gloss Black is unlike the other Mission Model Paints, in that it has a high gloss finish once dry and stays glossy. The effect that is necessary for the reflection of the Chrome paint once applied over it.
Reduction is not recommended, especially when using as a base for MMC001 Chrome
Drying time is extended. Allow 30-60 minutes before applying MMC001 Chrome
I found the black base to be not quite as "glossy" as Alclad black base or Vallejo's gloss black surface primer. This could be because I thinned out the Mission Models Black Base and I shouldn't have . I will add to this review if I find this to be the case. That being said the base sprayed extremely well with no real tip drying and it seemed real forgiving and its self levelling properties were obvious. As with all the Mission Model paints I have tried so far the finish is extremely durable. I could easily scratch off the Alclad and Valejjo paint from the plastic spoons with a thumb nail but could not scratch off the Mission Models paint. I sprayed AK Interactive "Extreme Metal" Chrome and Vallejo's "Metal Color" Chrome over the Mission Model Gloss Black Base and they turned out real well. I would have liked to have had some of Mission Models MMC001 Chrome to compare but my budget has not yet allowed this
